Somewhere Only We Know

It has been more than 1 month since I back from ski. Loaded up some pics in the weekend and try to type a few words now before I forget everything.

 

It was great fun and cheap, since almost everything was borrowed. The house we stayed in was borrowed, my ski equipments were borrowed, even my ski glasses were borrowed... The expenses were no more than fuel, lift card and food. Lift card was about 600 NOK per person per weekend. And the weekend card was actually cheaper than the 2 days card.

 

We drove up to Göterborg and then jumped into brother's car and drove up to Olso together. And stayed at sister's in Oslo for coffee and then drove up to Skeikampen together. It took 2 hours to Göteborg and then 4 hours to Oslo, and then continued 3 hours from Oslo to Skeikampen. I dont remember what the town is called...

 

The house we stayed in was also borrowed. It was allocated a few hundred meters from the ski mountain, had plenty of spaces and very cosy - 2 bathrooms, sauna, kitchen, living room, 4 bedrooms... I could live in a house like this all year round, but the owner of the house only use this house maybe 1 week a year (only for ski), and they have a similar house (if not bigger) in Spain for summer... I have to say rich people's life is really .... rich ....

 

I had never seen so much snow before in my life . It was evening when we drove up, after a couple of hours driving up and up and up along the narrow mountain roads, we couldn't see much more than the road in front of us and a snow ocean surrounding us. Snow was more than 1 meter higher than the road, the bottom part of christmas trees in the forest were melting in the snow, almost like a perfect disneyland, except that two of our cars couldn't drive up to the house because of the icey road. Here I have to admit that BMW has its strength - we were 3 cars, one old BMW and two newer Volvo. BMW drove up to the hill at the first try, a new Volvo V50 had to reverse and back up to the hill, and the other older Volvo S60 gave up after a few attempt and parked down the hill.

 

It was fun to ski, I played safe and only tried the green lines, the other accompanies were much more experienced than me and tried all the lines.The weather was perfect when we were there - sunny, only three four degrees below, plenty of snow and no ice at all.

 

When we drove back home, it was day time and sunny, we got the chance to see the beautiful Norweigen mountains, which we missed while we drove up in the dark. It was amazing to see the houses and farms built high up in the mountain, and admire those house owners who have mountain as their back yard garden and a calm wide river in front of them.

Went for shopping last Sunday and tried to find an album of Roxette, instead I found a CD of Guns N Roses, "Greatest hits". I took a look at the song list at the back side and decided to buy it right a way - all my favorite songs of GNR are included in a CD: Sweet Child o' Mine, Patience, Paradise city, knockin on heaven's door, civil war, Don't cry, November rain, Live and let die. Even though Axl Rose rarely wear pants on stage and has temper problem, his voice has got wide range and can reach into your heart. Especially when he calms down and sings a soft song like Don't cry and November rain, you can feel your heart is turning water and feel like he is singing only for you.

 

People always get surprised when they get to know that I listen to rock, they think my image doesn't match hard rock. Not only angry teenagers and black dressed men listen to rock, OK? Rock is expressing human being's feelings openly and straight forward, it is using both electric and classic instruments and a lot of rock song writers are very talented, that is why a 20, 30 years old rock song can stay fresh and popular until today. Think of a pop song that is playing on the radio over and over again today, after 3 years, how many people will still remember it?

 

I recommended a few rock songs to friend Alex long time ago, he listened to them for a few days and came back to me said "November rain is quite good, but I don't like the last part." I said "the last part is the thing, the climax of the song!" He said "I didn't know you have such a heavy music taste!" The same thing happened last Sunday when I chose this CD, Peter said "Who are you? I didn't know you are a rockis!" SURPRISE~~~

 

I should admit that I am not a really heavy tasted rockis, if you listen to this CD, you'd found that my favorite songs are the relatively soft ones. The songs I often listen to are something like Smells like teen spirit, living on the preyer, iris, nothing else matters... no really hard rock.

Read an article on an old friend's msn space talking about stopping wasting time, it brought back me some old memories which I'd never even slitly thought about. Memories are always there in our back heads but need something to remind us to bring them back:

 

When I was little, I thought it must be a great change of life when people became 18 years old. I was nervous when my 18th birthday would come soon. This friend was a little bit older than me, I asked him when the whole university had a meeting in the university hall :"How does it feel to be 18?" He said :"Nothing special at all, you will feel the same when you become 18." He was right, nothing extraordinary happened on my 18th birthday, a normal day started my life as a legal adult.

 

When I was a bit over 20, I had a few close friends in Edinburgh. I enjoyed their accompany and thought life was wonderfully simple and full of joy. One day when a friend walked me to bus station, I said:" I don't understand why people want to find a girl/boyfriend when they have good friends as we do. Life is much simpler with friends. A relationship, a husband, those things are far way from my life." He said:" You will find somebody special just for you. You can do a lot of things with friends, but friends can't fullfil all your needs for a complete life." He was right again, I met my huby a few months after this conversation.

 

I found it was hard to imagine me being 18, 20, working as parents do and getting married as adults do, but time makes me accept these stages naturally. 时光飞逝, time flys, tiden flyr, it's waiting for nobody. Imagine me to be 30, how will my life look like when I am 40?

 

I will be 30 years old in 3 short years when I still remember me asking: "How does it feel to be 18?" Gosh! I am not ready - One day I will be an old lady.

Have been busy in I don't know what for a long time.

 

My parents were here with me for 3 months, it was nice to get to spend some time with them. They were worried about me being in a country they'd never been, and being with a guy they'd never got chance to really know. After 88 days and night spent together, they were more or less relieved, it is one of the main objectives to having them here with me for 3 months.

 

Got a present ticket and watched film "Mama Mia" on Wednesday, the film is kind of made by fitting in ABBA songs! This movie can definitely make people happy, of course the pre-condition is you like music. Peter thought it was a "chick movie", music and dance and love story and so, but he turned out like it and recommended it to his parents and brother. I also watched The Mummy 3: Tomb of the dragon Emperor. The only thing I remember about it now is the movie was full of advanced computer graphics...

 

I burned my hand by stream, it is painful...

Found this music video on Youtube when I searched for Nightwish's "Walking in the air".

 

Nightwish is a Finnish band which was famous for its symphonic metal. But I personally don't think Nightwish is a symphonic metal band any longer since the band changed vocalist last year.

 

"Walking in the air" released in 1999, the first time I heard it was in year 2003. It used to be my favorite song. Today when I listened to the Swedish metal band HammerFall, I felt like to listen to another Scandinavia metal band Nightwish. By chance I clicked on this music video and impressed by this fine synchronized video. The music and "The lord of the rings" movie clips match perfectly. A very well done video!

 

    

It has been a mild winter and it was great weather last weekend, we went out with inlines and enjoyed the sun. Winter was finally over and spring had come.

 

The next day when I got up and opened the curtains on my bedroom window, I would hardly open my eyes because of the shiny golden sunshine reflected by the white snow. The weather changed over a night and surprised everybody - spring snow on March. Spring snow and spring rain are sisters, this snow is presenting the spring.
